Volunteer Event – Giving Back
South Coast Events’ Director, Sam Savage, had the pleasure of meeting Lorraine Lambert of Community First New Forest a few months ago and learned all about the charity. They provide support and advice to local voluntary and community groups as well as helping people to volunteer.
The charity in the past have organised an annual recognition event for their organisations and volunteers but due to funding cuts, this year it wasn’t going to be possible. As Sam has a background in working at charities and managing volunteer programmes, she felt a strong connection and wanted to help, so decided to organise the event for Community First New Forest this year.
On Thursday 14th September, lots of the community groups attended the event at Brockenhurst Village Hall, sponsored by Blu Lake. It was a great opportunity for organisations to pool their knowledge and share ideas, as well as enjoy an afternoon tea!
Cake by Sadie Smith provided all of the delicious cakes for the event and there were a lot! They included chocolate and caramel cupcakes, bourbon brownies, lemon drizzle cake, coffee cake and white chocolate and passion fruit cupcakes. Granny’s China Cupboard provided the scones for the visitors. South Coast Events managed the guest list and managed the venue and event day.
South Coast Events‘ Director Sam said; ‘I have worked in charities and know how tough it is to fundraise and recruit volunteers so it was a pleasure to be able to provide something nice for the organisations for a change – something small but hopefully enjoyed!’
Lorraine Lambert, Volunteer Centre Coordinator, Community First New Forest said; ‘Working with South Coast Events has been an absolute pleasure. Sam and her associates very generously volunteered their time and expertise to help us put on a fantastic event to celebrate volunteers and volunteer involving organisations throughout the New Forest. Without the commitment of Sam and her colleagues we would not have had the opportunity to host so many local charities and to bring them together to provide support and information in such a wonderful way. Huge thanks to South Coast Events, Blu Lake and Cakes by Sadie Smith for all their hard work.’
